Why the Heart Foundation recommends walking
There are many ways to be physically active, but walking is the number one activity Australian adults do on a regular basis. Walking is so popular because it is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. It can be done just about anywhere and is free. Walking also has a very low risk of injury as it is low impact (not jarring on the joints) and doesn’t require any special equipment or training.
Heart Foundation Walking is structured around organised groups as this complements the social aspect of walking. When people walk in groups, they can talk while they walk and it’s a great way to get to know your neighbours and neighbourhood.
We understand that not everyone lives near a Heart Foundation Walking group or can not make it to every scheduled walk. To encourage everyone to walk, Heart Foundation Walking includes a Virtual Walking group where participants can track their progress online.

Maleny RSL Hall
1 Bunya Street,
Come and join us for yoga each Monday at 9.30 am to 10.30 am at the Maleny RSL Hall. Perhaps you are attracted to the idea of yoga, but are hesitating because you regard yourself as “too stiff” or “too old”. Then this is the class for you! These classes are directed towards people who would prefer not to be moving up and down from the floor to standing. Most of the postures are done from sitting in a chair. Yoga is ideal for improving flexibility, strength, endurance and balance. It is the perfect method for improving your overall fitness. Ralph Freestun is a qualified Yoga teacher with experience in Chair Yoga.
