Crystal Waters Village Markets

Crystal Waters Village Markets – October 7 @ 8:00 am – 1:00 pm

For more information follow the link http://crystalwaters.org.au/contact-us/.

Since the first solitary stall set up outside the newly-built bakery in 2001, Crystal Waters Market has continued to grow survive and thrive. It now boasts an incredible thirty stalls each month!

Including many other new additions, three new craft stalls were added last November to increase diversity and a chance to attract even more customers. The three new craft stalls include tie-dye and chenille clothes, funky figures handmade from polymer clay, and Australian-themed paintings on leather.

Besides the above stated, there are still all the old favourites including seedlings, herbs, native trees, home baking, jewelry, fresh vegetables, fermented foods, soaps, massages, face painting and more. The emphasis is on fair trade, hand-made by the owner, local produce and organic.

For rummagers, Brick-a-Brac Lane is a feast of up-cycled, recycled and second-hand goods. The wood-fired bakery serves sourdough croissants and pastries and a great selection of organic sourdough bread.

Local musicians will entertain throughout the morning. To join them, contact Tom for a place at the open mic.

We’re looking forward to a good crowd enjoying the bustling atmosphere on the green so bring the whole family along for a truly magical community market experience.

Crystal Waters Eco Village is set in 650 acres of bushland at the headwaters of the Mary River, only 26kms from Maleny or Woodford. The Village includes privately owned residential lots and co-operatively owned commercial properties and was designed along permaculture principles.

The Village is classified ‘Land for Wildlife’ and is seen as a beautiful Australian Wildlife Sanctuary. We’re home to a wide variety of local flora and fauna including numerous kangaroos and wallabies, as well as many types of birds and reptiles – we share our land with nature. We believe that our “No Cats & Dogs” policy has created this environment, which is conducive to nature, and therefore provides us with a peaceful living experience.

With over 200 people of all ages living in Crystal Waters, and hundreds more in the local area around Conondale, Witta and Maleny, many of us enjoy regular events on our Village Green or on ‘The Deck’. The popular monthly Village Markets are held the 1st Saturday morning of the month and provide a lovely village atmosphere. The famous sourdough bakery is open, serving coffee and pastries and selling fresh bread. Meals are also available at the markets, and a variety of market stalls pepper The Village Green with variety and verve, complementing our great Musical talent. Be sure to visit us on one of our market days, or when other events are being held. All welcome!

HEARTBEATS WALKING GROUPS

HEARTBEATS WALKING GROUPS

On the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.  Various meeting points. Walk approx 5 km or
1 hour (depending on your speed).  Starting time 6:30 am start (Sep to May); 7 am start (Jun, Jul & Aug).

All walk to their own fitness level – always someone to walk with. There are also 3 or 4 social lunches a year.  Contact Mal Somerville  07 5499 9290.

Why the Heart Foundation recommends walking

There are many ways to be physically active, but walking is the number one activity Australian adults do on a regular basis. Walking is so popular because it is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. It can be done just about anywhere and is free. Walking also has a very low risk of injury as it is low impact (not jarring on the joints) and doesn’t require any special equipment or training.

Heart Foundation Walking is structured around organised groups as this complements the social aspect of walking. When people walk in groups, they can talk while they walk and it’s a great way to get to know your neighbours and neighbourhood.

We understand that not everyone lives near a Heart Foundation Walking group or can not make it to every scheduled walk. To encourage everyone to walk, Heart Foundation Walking includes a Virtual Walking group where participants can track their progress online.
