Baroon Lookout walk is at the southern end and start of The Sunshine coast Hinterland Great Walk.

You can do an enchanting short walk of 4.4 km return that will give you a taste of the magic of the Great Walk.  Walking time to the Baroon Lookout and return is approximately 2 hours.

Park in the carpark off Narrows Road just 10 minutes from Montville.  Starting from the carpark the walk passes through open woodland ridges and crosses bridges and boardwalks over palm and vine-forested streams.

The Narrows Lookout provides a unique view over the Narrows Gorge.  Further up the track a boardwalk is in place to protect the habitat of the rare hip-pocket frog Assa darlingtoni.

Walk up out of the gully to the Baroon Lookout for views of the Obi Obi gorge, Baroon Pocket Dam and its catchment, and then return by the same path back to the Baroon Pocket Dam carpark.

Remember:  Wear sturdy, enclosed boots or shoes.  Surfaces can be slippery.  Carry drinking water.  Plan to complete your walk well before dark.  Wear a hat, sunscreen and insect repellent.  Stay on marked tracks.  Use a map or track guide.  Ensure an experienced adult accompanies children.  Obey all safety and warning signs.  Take a charged mobile phone.  Accidents have happened, even to experienced bushwalkers.  In case of emergency try calling 000 or 112 if you are experiencing bad reception.  Domestic animals are not permitted on the walks.
