Welcome to the Maleny Info Centre featured Community Group, as listed in Discover Our Community on the website. http://maleny.qld.au/discover-community/.
This weeks featured group is the Maleny Historical Society.
The Maleny History Preservation & Restoration Society, situated at 7 Bryce Lane, Maleny collects and preserves the history of Maleny for future generations. The Village is open to the public on Tuesdays and Saturdays (or by appointment). Tour groups can be accommodated with morning tea and lunch available by appointment. There is a gold coin admission. The Historical Village is also used by other groups including – the Mens Shed, the Horseless Carriage Club and Family Functions. Present projects include the building of a Blacksmiths Shop using the garage from Glenferna, a farmhouse built by Edward Thynne just after the end of the 19th century. A major project presently underway is Funraising for Glenferna. The society has been offered this beautiful house on the condition that they shift it to the Historical Village and restore it fittingly.
